Everything you need to understand your website traffic

GNRCounter combines a customizable visitor counter with clear, easy-to-read traffic reports. Add one line of code, then follow visitors, page views, countries, devices and sources from a single dashboard. It is free, and you do not need an account to get started.

What you get

A counter that fits your website

Choose how your statistics appear on the page, or keep the counter completely invisible. You can change your choice later without creating a new counter.

Online12  Today348  Total128,904

Visible counter

A compact text counter that shows the statistics you choose, in your own colors.

Online: 12  •  Today: 348  •  Total: 128,904

Ticker bar

A slim bar fixed to the top or bottom of the page that scrolls your statistics from right to left. Choose full or half width. Visitors can pause it by hovering and close it with one click.

No visible counter

Invisible tracking

Collect statistics without showing anything on the page, so your layout stays exactly as designed.

Set up in about a minute

No installation, no plugin and no account.

Create your counter

Enter your website address and choose your language, timezone and display style. An email address is optional.

Paste one line of code

Copy the embed code and add it to the pages you want to track, for example in your site footer.

Open your dashboard

Use the private admin link you receive to read your reports. Your first visits appear shortly after the code is live.

Example embed code
<script src="https://gnrcounter.com/counter.php?accId=YOUR_COUNTER_ID"></script>

Change your counter any time, without coding

Paste your existing code, or just your 32-character counter ID, into the code editor. Choose new options with a live preview of your own site and copy the updated code. No account and no new counter needed.

  • Switch between the counter, the ticker bar and invisible tracking.
  • Change colors, position, width, language and the statistics shown.
  • See the result on your own website before you copy the code.

Open the code editor

For developers: URL parameters

Add parameters to the code address to override options on a single page: type (text, ticker, hidden), pos (top, bottom), width (full, half), bg and text (hex colors), stats (the numbers to show) and lang (any of the 16 languages). Parameters you leave out keep the settings saved for your counter.

...counter.php?accId=YOUR_ID
  &type=ticker&pos=top&width=half
  &bg=1E3A5F&text=FFFFFF
  &stats=online,today,total,link&lang=en

Privacy and control

You decide what is shared, and your visitors are treated with care.

Public and private views

Reports can be opened in a public view that hides IP addresses and referrers. Your private admin link, protected by a secret code, shows more detail. Keep that link to yourself.

Exclude your own visits

Open your website once with ?gnrc-hideme=1 added to the address and that browser is no longer counted. Use ?gnrc-hideme=0 to count it again.

Frequently asked questions

Is GNRCounter really free?

Yes. Creating a counter and using the dashboard are free.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You create a counter with your website address and your preferences. An email address is optional and is only used to send your codes and help you recover them.

Can I track more than one page?

Yes. Add the same code to every page you want to track. The reports combine all pages, and Top Pages shows them one by one.

Can I hide the counter but keep the statistics?

Yes. Choose invisible tracking: nothing appears on your page and the dashboard keeps collecting data.

Are bots and crawlers counted?

Known bots are filtered out of your reports.

Who can see my statistics?

Reports can be viewed in a public view in which IP addresses and referrers are hidden. The private admin link with your secret code shows more detail, so keep it to yourself.
